Apostolate Meaning
The word apostolate, etymologically refers us to the Latin, “apostolatus” and refers to the activity of the apostles, who were those people whom Jesus chose as messengers, to spread his Good News. That is why the apostolate is the action of those who illuminate the path of their neighbor, sharing their faith, to reach God, according to what Christ preached, who is the one who made the apostolate the reason for his life, his death, and his Resurrection.
Forms of exercising the Christian apostolate
This exercise of shared, externalized, and disseminated faith can be done not only by those who consecrate their lives to the service of religion as priests but also by lay Christians, through orality or writing; conversing with friends, relatives and strangers, giving lectures, writing pamphlets and books, about the path that leads to God, as contained in the Bible.
It is catechesis that teaches Christians their mission on Earth, as participants in a community of believers and as emissaries of the message they received through the divine revelation contained in the Holy Scriptures, to make the earthly world a path full of love and charity towards the ultimate goal, of community with God.
The apostolate can also be done, from example and testimony, leading a virtuous and consecrated life to the Lord, praying and helping others, being supportive and understanding, and through charitable works.

The term apostolate is applied to qualify those people who, within the framework of their activity or profession, carry it out selflessly, trying to help others, without focusing on sacrifices or personal gains.
